Leroy Merlin takes top spot in DIY store ranking in southern Europe
In France, Italy and Spain, Leroy Merlin takes the top spot as the most preferred DIY store according to consumers. Consumers are particularly satisfied with the high service and nice shopping environment from Leroy Merlin.
Leroy Merlin stands out on almost all aspects, as rated by consumers. Leroy Merlin is not only the best DIY store overall, but the aspects accessibility, quality, high service and nice shopping environment from Leroy Merlin are rated above average as well.
The high ratings on high service and nice shopping environment in all countries give Leroy Merlin a strong competitive advantage. Runners up are Castorama in France, Brico Ok in Italy and Aki in Spain. Less appreciated DIY stores are Bricorama (France), Obi (Italy) and Bricomaster (Spain). Brico Dépôt is also rated below average in France, but makes up for this with the high rating on fair price.
There are clear differences visible in the ratings of the DIY store chains, but differences can also be noticed in the ratings from consumers of different countries. Consumers in Italy give higher ratings than consumers in France and Spain. This shows that DIY stores in Italy are generally reviewed more positively by consumers than DIY stores in France and Spain. When you zoom in on the different aspects, Italian consumers rate the aspect high service particularly higher than French and Spanish consumers. This could indicates that DIY stores in Italy give a relatively better service than DIY stores in France and Spain.
The result are based on the European home improvement monitor. Each month 2,000 successful interviews are conducted across Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. This means that 26,400 interviews are conducted among European consumers on a yearly basis. The results from this research are reported on a quarterly basis and show the development of the market in terms of purchase volume and purchase channels. Furthermore, each quarter in-depth insight is given in topics which are up to date in the market.
