Are European installers ordering traditionally or online?

It appears that there are some clear differences between countries. In the Netherlands, almost half of the installation products bought at an installation wholesale are ordered online. The Netherlands is a frontrunner in this respect, as the traditional methods (phone, fax, store counter and sales representative) are more popular in the other countries. Germany and Belgium follow with 37% and 24% of the installers ordering online. Poland is the most traditional. Over 90% of the purchases is done in a traditional way.

Ordering online can be a chance for the wholesaler to construct the ordering process in a more efficient and cost-effective way. However, when installers have all their products delivered, they have less contact with people from the wholesale and the wholesale has less chance to build a relationship. Therefore installers have less possibilities to influence the buy decisions of consumers in the future

These are some of the results from the 2015 report of the European Mechanical Installation Monitor. The survey is conducted on quarterly basis among 1,200 HVAC installation and plumbing companies in 6 European countries.
